USFS Saco Ranger Station

The United States Forest Service recently hired Resilient Buildings Group, Inc. to analyze their Saco Ranger Station building and develop a plan to reduce baseline energy use and produce renewable energy on-site. The goal here was to offset at least as much energy as it uses in a year, hence the term “Net Zero Energy”. Achieving such a goal is possible with an integrated approach by understanding the needs of the facility through data collection, targeting wasteful equipment for efficient replacement, installing renewable energy systems, overseeing first‐class implementation, and incorporating new procedures for staff training and operations.

RBG is pleased to report that the modeling for a new building is complete, and the renovations and new constructions are expected to produce a NZE facility.
